SD:When did you start designing jewelry?
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': About 5 years ago. I had been doing
silk wedding flowers and I kept getting requests for hair ornamentation. That lead me to do hair pins and tiaras and then it morphed into doing every day jewelry full time.SD:What inspires your jewelry designs?
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': I am inspired by so many different things, but if I had to choose one major influence it would have to be the Florida nature and wildlife. The sunsets, ocean, sand, and animals provide me with all of the color combinations you could ever want to have. I love blues and greens, and the water in the surrounding area provides me with all of those colors I could ever ask for.
SD:Where did you grow up and where do your presently reside?
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': I was born and raised in Ohio, went to college in Michigan… got tired of the snow and RAN to Florida the day after I graduated and I have never looked back. I have a new chapter in my life that might be unfolding next summer. I may have to transplant myself and my family to Nevada, but I am excited about the possibilities there too!
SD:Tell us about your other interests or any hobbies you enjoy?
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details':I love music, surfing the internet for new design techniques, and traveling to NYC to go gemstone shopping with my friend.
SD: Were you a creative child?
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': I have always been a creative person. As a young child, I could spend hours coloring or making something with Playdoh. My favorite toys were always things that enabled you to make something. I still love to color with my kids even now. I am just a big kid myself in that respect.
SD:Why have you chosen jewelry design as a means to express your creativity?
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': Well, I don’t really think I chose jewelry design… I think it chose me. I was doing floral design and I always enjoyed doing that, but it wasn’t quite as satisfying as I had hoped it would be. When my bridal clients started requesting pieces for their hair, I realized with some wire, pearls and crystals I could make them something really special and I totally forgot all about flowers and I have never looked back!
SD:Do you have a following of people who are collectors of Stunning Details jewelry?
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': Well, yes, I suppose that I do. I do have quite a few wonderful clients that order things from me on a very regular basis. I have begun to know their tastes pretty well too… and I can usually email them with new designs and choose which ones they will love the most.
SD:What is your favorite material to work with and why? Do you have a favorite gemstone or precious metal?
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': I love working with all kinds of materials, but right now I am definitely addicted to copper and silver. I love taking a plain piece of sheet metal and making a really cool pattern on it by etching it with original artwork or by hammering it into a special patterned design. I just love the possibilities you have working with metals. As for gemstones, I love them all… but current faves are smoky quartz and green amethyst.
SD:Please describe for us one of your favorite pieces of jewelry from your 'stunning details' collection.
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': Right now, one of my favorite pieces is from the new mixed metals collection I am working on. I did the prototype in copper, and it is earrings made with 1” circles, then I did a “checkerboard” type pattern by hammering wire on them, and finished them off with every other square being shiny or brush finished. They are really rich looking… and will be available sometime this fall.
SD:Do you offer custom-made jewelry?
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': Of course, that is one of my favorite things to do. I do it all the time… from designing an everyday piece of jewelry for someone, to doing special jewelry for an entire bridal party. Custom orders are always welcome!
SD:Please tell us your order turnaround time.
Rhonda Reagan, 'stunning details': I usually try to get all orders out within 7-10 days. If a client needs something sooner, I do my best to try and get it to them. Wholesale orders and custom orders are usually completed within 2-3 weeks.
