New to DVD
With the Holidays right around the corner, many people are scrambling to find that perfect gift. To help you out, may I introduce a few of your favorite sitcoms newly released on DVD?

These collections are sure to please even the hardest person on your list.

Dick Van Dyke Collection
Available November 20

With 15 Emmy Awards under its belt, this collection is a definite must have. How could someone not laugh at Dick Van Dyke? The man is not only humorous, but also willing to sacrifice his body for a few good laughs. That mix of slapstick and comedic timing is what made this show such a great success.

Van Dyke’s co-stars were pretty special too. The show was a platform for Mary Tyler Moore, Morey Amsterdam, Rose Marie, and Carl Reiner.

Van Dyke played Rob Petrie, a writer for a fictional sketch comedy show. Moore played his loving wife Laura – a kind and gentle lady who could also stand her ground. Marie and Amsterdam were Rob’s co-workers on the “Alan Brady Show,” and Reiner played Brady. The show focused on Petrie’s work and personal adventures, but mainly allowed the cast to show off their comedic chops. What a great show!

“Charles in Charge: Complete Second Season”
Available November 20

After we learned that audiences didn’t love Chachi as much as Joanie did, and before Scott Baio landed his own reality show on VH-1 (“Scott Baio is 45…and Single”), he was the man in charge – of a few bratty kids.

Baio starred as Charles, a local college student in need of room and board – and a little spending cash – who lands a job as a live-in-“many.” The first season he worked for the Pembroke Family, but when he returned from summer vacation, he had new employers, The Powell family.

Season 2 begins as Charles learns his former employers are moving to Seattle, but the family who takes over their house wants to keep Charles too. We meet a whole new family, but thankfully Charles’ best friend Buddy (Willie Aames) is still around.

This three-disc set contains all 26 episodes from Season Two. Aside from Baio and Aames, the show stars Nicole Eggert, Josie Davis, Sandra Kerns, James Callahan, and Alexander Polinsky.

“The Beverly Hillbillies” Collection
Available December 4

Hollywood will never be the same again – thanks to The Clampett family. After finding gold while out shooting on his ranch, Jed decides to move his family out west to the land of movie stars and swimming pools. Much to the horror of their neighbors, the clan keeps up with their hillbilly lifestyle, proving that money can’t make the man.

The show stars Buddy Ebsen as mountaineer Jed, the family patriarch. The rest of the family consisted of Irene Moses as “Granny,” Donna Douglas as Elly May, and Max Baer Jr. as Jethro Bodine. Raymond Bailey and Nancy Kulp starred as Mr. Drysdale and Jane Hathaway, local bank employees who tried to “help” the Clampetts with their money.

This five disc collection features 20 episodes of the classic show that held a spot in the Top 10 for nine years in a row.
