Julianne Hough

Guest Author - Kathy Lyngholm

You might know her as a two time winner on “Dancing with the Stars”, but now she is adding a new title to her resume, country singer. Releasing her debut effort on May 20th, she had to juggle a few things such as the Dancing finale before she could even go buy her own copy. No worries tho, the CD sold 67,000 copies the first week it was released. Starting June 11th she is going out on tour with Brad Paisley and getting her feet wet before the country music fans.

This 19yo is no stranger to singing, she’s been doing it since she was a youngster, she and her siblings have been referred to as the “blonde Osmond’s”. Her first release is That Song In My Head and it has steadily been climbing the charts since it’s release. I have heard it many times on XM radio. While not a traditional country music album, it is more pop country, it is a solid effort for a first CD. Fans of the show she is on might know her now, but fans of country music are going to learn about her in short order if she continues to rise up the charts.

Julianne did not plan on being on the top rated show “Dancing with the Stars”, she had every intention of moving to Nashville and working on her CD, but when the offer came along, she couldn’t turn it down. Like Josh Gracin, she had to work on the CD in between her other responsibilities, so it took a bit longer than she planned to get it out to the radio and fans. According to Julianne, she had almost complete control over the music on her release. She didn’t tweak her voice on tracks and she tried to stay true to herself in the choice of songs. The songs on the CD are those that she can relate to, she has lived through most of what she has chosen to sing.

Tracks
Song In My Head is a catchy tune that is the first release of this CD. The song talks about a new relationship and a song that was playing when that guy caught her eye.

You, You, You is about what someone would do to be with the person to which they are attracted.

Hide Your Matches is about love and how it feels to be in that person’s arms.

My Hallelujah song talks about living in the moment and knowing that where you are is where you are supposed to be at that moment in time.

Jimmy Ray McGee is about peer pressure and not to do things that go against what you stand for and how you feel.

Dreaming Under the Same Moon is a duet with her brother Derek. This song talks about fulfilling your dreams and wanting the same for someone you care about.

About Life talks about growing up and finding about what works for you and what doesn’t.

Hello talks about looking for relationships in the wrong places and telling a friend to with it and “stop fishing in shallow waters”.

Help Me, Help You talks about trying to help a friend that is in trouble and can’t find her way out of the situation.

Love Yourself talks about wishing a friend could see herself like she does.

I’d Just Be With You talks about finding out what makes you happy and doing that, what makes her happy is being with her love.

Stop by the forum and let us know if you have the CD and what you think.
