Decorating with Green

Decorating with Green
Green is one of my preferred colors to use in decorating. It is refreshing and seems to go with almost any color, style or season.

When trying to pick the color green, consider one of these variations in your decorating palette.

Apple Green
Apple green is a great choice that works with many decorating styles. Consider it for contemporary, traditional as well as casual styles like a farmhouse decor. It looks great with cobalt blue and very crisp against a white background. It’s also a great color to pair with purple, orange, or its color complement, red. Apple green is also a beautiful and natural enhancement to earth tone color schemes.

Mint Green
Mint green may summon up images of baby nurseries or shabby cottage decors. It is a color that is soft and sweet and works well as a romantic backdrop to a room. Pair it with other pastels or neutral whites and creams to create a light and airy feeling. For a more contemporary flair, pair it with black or a brighter or deeper hue of another color.

Emerald Green
Emerald green is a lovely jewel-toned hue that looks fantastic when paired with other bold colors like sapphire or ruby reds. It can create a modern look as well as a more traditional effect. If you are fearless in your color approach and enjoy strikingly bold colors, then this may be the perfect choice for you.

Hunter Green
Hunter Green is a deeper toned green that conjures up images of an English Country manor or a rustic decor. It works well against other more muted, deep tones like cherry red, pumpkin or ochre. Be aware that too much of this color can make a room feel dark and overwhelming.

Lime Green
Lime green is a great color for modern decors or for a more whimsical look. It can come across a little garish if you aren’t careful what colors you pair it with. Use it with orange and turquoise for a vibrant, tropical feel. This is a playful color that can add energy to any space.

Obviously, I’ve only listed a few green color choices. Other popular choices could include sage green, jade green, leaf green, grass green, shamrock green or celadon. Basically, I think you’ll find that there is a green for you, no matter what your decorating style. Like, nature, whether used in large or small doses, green can create the perfect accent to your surroundings.
