Bayou N' Boogie Fest

Guest Author - Chris Curtis

Put your dancing shoes on and be ready to groove to the energizing sounds of the Louisiana Bayou. Some of the best Louisiana bands will be making their way to MA for Memorial Day weekend for the 5th Annual Bayou N’ Boogie Festival to be held at Francis Farm, Rehoboth, MA on May 27, 28, and 29th. This is the 2nd year at Francis Farms for this young but fast growing event. The festival will be taking over the entire grounds of Francis Farms allowing for significant expansion in both the scheduled times and also in the number of Artists who will be performing. Friday evening from 6:00 to 11:00 pm has been added to the schedule this year.

The promoters for this festival is a partnership between Lagniappe Productions with extensive experience in contributing to the award winning Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Rhythm and Roots Festival, Michael Arnone's Crawfish Fest and RIs celebrated Mardi Gras Ball held at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet; and Sal’s Production with extensive experience in Cajun and Zydeco dance events in Rhode Island.

With a second stage added, Bayou N’ Boogie will be featuring an expanded schedule with a broad selection of Blues, Swing, Rockabilly, Cajun, Zydeco and Roots music. There is a little something for everyone with a whole lot of dancing opportunities. The festival will be offering dance lessons in Cajun, Zydeco, Advanced Zydeco and Western Swing giving new dancers an opportunity to get their grooves on. This place is going to be rocking the rafters all weekend long.

This year in addition to the dance pavilion, a new Blues stage will provide a continuous stream of Blues artists to include Sonny Landreth & the Goners, Big Sandy & the Flyrite Boys, Bonerama, The Lustre Kings, Superchief Trio, Johnny Nicholas & the Southern Dragons, Paul Cebar & Tomorrow’s Sounds, and Tim Taylor’s Blues Band. Those of you who love Swing dance will have ample opportunity to get your groove on with this compelling line up.

Featured in the dance tent are a mix of Cajun and Zydeco bands to include Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble, Rosie Ledet (the Zydeco Sweetheart), Dennis Stroughmatt & Creole Stomp, , Corey Ledet & His Zydeco Band, Jesse Lege & Bayou Brew, The Cajun Hobos, Preston Frank & Big Daddy Zydeco.

The promoters will also be expanding on the workshop stage schedule where you can experience the artists in an intimate setting and learn from these skilled musicians.. The workshop stage will also include dance lessons for those new to the Cajun, Zydeco and western swing dance experiences.

This is great value for your money and there is no better way to spend a holiday weekend attending a live music event with the quality of musicians and artists from the Roots music scene as those that will be entertaining at this festival event.
