Chatham Bars Inn Elegant Oceanfront Resort & Spa
Chatham is a serene, lovely Cape Cod, Massachusetts, village. Year-round, the air is invigorating, prices low, restaurants quiet, beaches inviting and artists and artisans welcoming. Buy some handmade glassfish sculpture or a painting of a sunset while browsing Main Street galleries. Then stop of some handmade chocolate. Set in a quiet area of Cape Cod, the Inn is a perfect place for a romantic holiday. My husband and I took a three-day romantic, vacation where I indulged in treatments at the new spa, while my husband relaxed. When I was in the spa, he happily went beachcombing and watched fishing boats unloading their catch.

We stayed at the luxurious Chatham Bars Inn, an oceanfront resort. Our suite overlooked fishing boats, dock, beach and dunes. The historic Inn opened in 1914 and it’s elegant, iconic half- moon front entrance mains unchanged to this day. The deluxe, classic oceanfront resort is an idyllic retreat, set upon 25 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and sandy ocean beaches.

The new Sanctuary Spa opened in the Fall of 2007, and it's the $25 million spa offers dozens of specialized treatments, using all-natural products which left me gleaming and gorgeous after two treatments.

Downtown Chatham is just short stroll from Chatham Bars Inn. In summer, popular free Friday night band concerts, Cape Cod Baseball league games, and a Fourth of July parade enliven the town. The downtown is classic old New England. It's an intriquing place, with funky, quirky and upscale boutiques, cafes, galleries, restaurants. The Squire is perfect for lunch or a late night drink (also downtown) the “in” place in Chatham. It’s a casual place to grab a bite, play some pool in the back room, and hang your license plate on the wall. We had excellent burgers.

The new $25 million-dollar two-story spa, includes Spa Suites with in-room private saunas, hydrotherapy tubs, steam showers and 600 square feet of space. The suites are on the second floor of the stand-alone spa.

The spa is on the first floor, set beside a lovely Japanese garden, pond with Koe, a hydrotherapy tub, and heated tiles around the pool, travel to Cape Cod for a relaxing getaway! This intimate spa includes five treatment rooms, a nail and pedicure salon, lobby and expansive lounge area with high-sided banquet seats, roomy enough for couples to share.

While I enjoyed the deluxe 90-minute European facial with all-natural products by Kerstin Florian International. That facial left my gleaming! Another day, I indulged in a manicure in the violet-painted salon.

The Spa features state-of-the-art treatments and luxury. The 2500 square foot indoor area includes wet and dry treatment rooms, a Vichy shower room, and a relaxation room with individual Bose sound systems for guests’ enjoyment prior to their treatments. The lushly landscaped outdoor treatment area includes private cabanas for massages and a 1,500-square-foot heated hydrotherapy pool. Guests can enjoy massages at the oceanfront cabana, and gaze at the sea while being pampered. Of course, in April, the outdoor massage options weren’t available yet, but soon.

Among the signature services at the Spa is the Chatham Bars Inn Caviar Facial, which uses the antioxidants and proteins of caviar to hydrate, firm, tone and refine the skin. Other signature treatments include the Dibi Collagen Facial, which focuses on bio technically created, innovative ingredients, and the Skinceuticals Head-To-Toe Facial, which helps remove sun damage, notes Pamela B. The Kerstin Florian products truly impressed me with their rich, gentle feel; my skin had such a nice glow after the treatment that several diners that my husband commented on it at dinner.

My spa treatments were the special 90-minute facial and the 45-minute Journey Manicure. Special Spa packages treatments include Vinotherapy, featuring a Napa Valley Shiraz Scrub, which exfoliates and hydrates the skin. An assortment of massages featuring holistic treatments from around the world will also be available.
