"Can you tell me how to get to Seasame Street?" is a question that generations of folks can answer, including your preschooler! Kids in the preschool age group love to snuggle sweet Elmo, learn with Big Bird and laugh with Cookie Monster. Sesame Street can be found, and you can take your child to this magical place! Sesame Place, in Langhorne, PA is an awesome vacation spot for families with preschoolers. Here are some of the "musts" when attending this educational and amusing park:

-Check the hours for operation. Most summer days have the park open from 10-8pm. The link at the end of this article will take you to a calendar for more specific information.

-Decide with your children what are "musts" for your family. When my husband and I took my son at age three, we preplanned several things. First, we opted to stay at a preferred hotel, which offered discount tickets, and at the time, a hotel craft room for kids. This was so cool because my son was ready to go by eight o'clock in the morning, and the park did not open until 10 am! Plus, it rained one afternoon and that craft room was quite a benefit. We stayed at the Sheraton across the street from the park, but this was seven years ago. I checked the website and I don't see the Sesame Crafts on it. However, please call ahead to check and see if your hotel offers any unique amenities. I still have all of the Oscar the Grouch and Grover crafts my son, Nick, made.

-Know the rides and attractions. A few outdoor rides are "Grover’s World Twirl" (teacups), "Mix ‘n’ Match Twiddle Tracks" (kiddie train ride), "Snuffy's Slides" and the "Sunny Day Carousel". Water rides include "Bert and Ernie's Slip and Slide" and "Big Bird's Rambling River". There is a parade, playgrounds, and several shows to enjoy, too.

-Plan to Dine with the characters. If possible, plan for at least one character meal, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. This offers an awesome opportunity to have your child (and you) get photos with all of their Sesame Street pals. I was so happy that we did a character breakfast with my son, as he got sick the next day and we would have otherwise been unable to see all of his favorites in our trip time frame. Plus, the character meals are fun, yummy, and worth the experience.

-Prepare you child for this great family vacation! Watch Sesame Street, read books together about beloved Elmo and friends, and play cool games online. Discuss ideas for shows and attractions, and gather input as to what your child is most excited to do. My son let us know upfront that the "Elmo's World" show was something he really wanted to see, so that was the first thing we made sure to line up for on our first day at the park.
