Oregon Coast Destination Weddings & Honeymoons

Oregon Coast Destination Weddings & Honeymoons
With a rich historic past--the region is the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies--Astoria is a small town of 10,000 just a few miles from the Pacific Coast in Northwest Oregon. Old Victorian homes dot the wooded hillsides; in fact because of its Victorian architecture and steep hills, Astoria has been called the "San Francisco of the Pacific Northwest."

Destination Weddings
Unspoiled and generally uncrowded, Astoria is filled with high-end restaurants, classy hotels and spectacular venues for destination weddings. For example, the fantastic rooftop terrace at Hotel Elliott (pictured left) is perfect for an intimate ceremony, while the Liberty Theater is known for its vintage, old-world charm. Other popular sites include the Astoria Country Club, Benjamin Young Inn, Clatsop Community College's Performing Arts Center, Pier 39, the Rosebriar Hotel and the wood-paneled ballroom at the historic Elks Lodge.

Many prestigious local restaurants provide catering services, focusing on the fresh-caught seafood and distinct Oregon cuisine for which the region is known. While there are no specific wedding planners in Astoria, the friendly folks at the Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce can help you with your wedding coordination: (800) 875-6807.

Honeymoon at the Cannery Pier Hotel
The Cannery Pier Hotel is Astoria’s newest luxury boutique hotel, built on the site of the former Union Fish Cannery 600 feet into the Columbia River. Rooms are lavishly appointed with a fireplace, hardwood floors, mini-fridge and microwave. Each room has a private balcony with river view. Workout at the hotel's fitness room, relax in the Finnish Sauna and then get pampered at the full-service Cannery Day Spa.

One fun service that is totally free with your accommodations is the use of a chauffeured 1939 Buick! You'll feel like celebrities being carted from your hotel to your dinner reservations or the local theatres. Complimentary continental breakfast and wine-and-lox for happy hour is also offered -- every day! You can also learn about Astoria’s heyday as the Cannery Capital of the World on the hotel's Museum Walk; or sail on a sunset evening cruise aboard a 65-foot private yacht.
