Wise Girl Review

Guest Author - Danielle Crowe

Wise Girl is a power pop/rock band that is crafted and fronted by female singer/songwriter/guitarist, Abby Weitz. Hailing from Manhattan, New York, Wise Girl is a melodic five-some that is made up of straight-forward talent. Their upcoming EP showcases the perfect musical combination of poppy melodies, rocking guitars, and fun, quirky songwriting techniques that are all wrapped up and blended together without any gimmicks and are combined with a hard-working, no-nonsense attitude.

After playing at different notable NYC venues, performing at the CMJ Music Marathon in both 2010 and 2011, being featured on fashion designer Kate Spade's website and blog, and being chosen as one of the final 15 bands to represent Manhattan at the New York "Battle of the Boroughs" competition, Wise Girl is currently in the studio putting the final touches on their new album to be released in 2013. In the meantime, you can download the Wise Girl EP on iTunes with the stand out single, “Set In Stone”. The feisty debut single is a perfect example of how the band creates a rhythmic blend of catchy melodies, gritty guitars and witty yet matter-of-fact lyrics. Produced by Chris Fasulo, the Wise Girl EP’s overall content centers on love gone wrong and the battles that society faces when caught in the middle of it.

Apart from Abby Weitz (vocals, guitar), Wise Girl includes musicians such as Chris Fasulo (producer, lead guitars), Abby Lee (backup vocals, tambourine), Harry Keithline (drums) and Sean Kane (bass). Elements of Wise Girl’s music can be attributed to their influences drawn from some of Weitz’s favorites such as The Ramones, The Beatles, The Muffs, Letters to Cleo, Weezer and a mixture of different 60′s era girl groups.

For more information about Wise Girl, check out the band on their personal website at www.wisegirlmusic.com, or find them on Twitter, YouTube, Myspace, Facebook, and/or iTunes for upcoming show dates, the latest band news, to listen to their music or watch their videos.
