Amazon Kindle and Birding

Amazon Kindle and Birding
When you are out birding, don't you wish you that you could reference a book, an image of a certain bird, or a bird song? But with birding it's not convenient to always carry around all the birding books and other resources you would like to at the same time. Now you can have these resources at your fingertips with the Amazon Kindle.

What is the Kindle? This is an electronic book reader. You can download a book in seconds and be reading it right away. But you can also download newspapers, magazines, even blogs. The Kindle can hold a lot of reading material - approximately 200 books.

This product allows you to not only store books, but you can store images of birds as well so you can consult your kindle while bird-watching to identify that obscure bird you just saw. You can even store MP3 files on it, so you could listen to bird sounds as well to help you identify a bird. It is small enough to easily tuck into a purse or backpack and will not weigh you down like books would.

Here are some other great features of the Kindle:

  • The display is so sharp it actually looks like you are reading actual printed material

  • It is easy to use. You don't need to have a computer or sync it to a computer

  • Kindle's wireless technology allows it to be used anywhere – in bed, at the airport or even on a bird watching safari!

  • It's lighter than a paperback and weighs only 10.3 ounces.

  • Long battery life. When left on you only need to recharge every other day. And recharging only takes 2 hours.

  • You don't have to locate a Wi-Fi zone for Kindle to work. It uses the same technology as cell phones, making it unnecessary to be in a hotspot.

  • No monthly bills or service plans required

  • Email your Word documents and picture files to Kindle for easy on-the-go viewing

Not only is the Kindle a great product to have with you when birding, but with Kindle, you can always have a book "on hand". When do any of us have time nowadays to sit down and just read for hours at a time? I know I don't. But it does always seem like I'm waiting in line for something - to checkout at the store, at the bank, at the doctor's office. Here I can pull out my Kindle and read a couple pages while I am waiting.

So the Kindle is recommended as a great information resource whenever you need it. Although the Kindle is a bit on the pricey side, it is worth the investment to have the ability to consult all your birding information whenever and wherever you need it.
