Crochet Pattern 30 Min Hat

Crochet Pattern 30 Min Hat
This crochet hat pattern was made up for a doll but it can easily be used for a preemie. It is quick and easy to crochet with no special stitches required. I call it my “30 Minute Hat” because that is about all the time it takes to make one up.

If you crochet for the charities that donate to the neo natal units this is just a perfect little pattern for your spare yarn. You could make a lot of hats in no time at all. I like to use the Simply Soft yarn because it is so soft and gentle on the babies’ tender skin. But if you are making doll clothes than you can use just about any 4-ply yarn you have on hand.

Also think about making a soft blanket, a little sweater and booties would really make a super gift set for any baby doll. We will have patterns up for these items also; as I get them posted I will let you know. I make these hats up especially when I only have bits and pieces of yarn left over, as the amount they require is so little. I hate to waste yarn so I try to think of small projects that can use up all those little yarn balls we have laying around.

Another charity idea is to make them up for baby dolls. Add a pair of booties and or a sweater and some little girl will be thrilled at Christmas or her birthday. Christmas Charities takes donations all year long not just at the holiday.

And of course the hospitals need hats all year around.I came across this site “Save the dolls” this kind lady finds old dolls everywhere at yard sales, flea markets and thrift stores just to mention a few. She than takes them home and refurbish them. She cleans them up, repairs their hair and makes new clothes and them. Then she gives them to different charities.

How to crochet a hat beginning with a granny square

This pattern begins like any regular granny square. Then it continues with just the double crochet stitch. I love the simplicity of the pattern and it is so pretty when it is finished. It is the perfect project for when you want to make something but don’t want to spend the evening studying a pattern. You can add a pom pom to the dolls hat but it is not recommended for preemie hats.
