Gelatin Juice Fast

Unflavored gelatin is excellent fuel for your endocrine system, which nourishes your blood, rejuvenates tissue, enriches organs, smoothes your skin, vitalizes your hair and even improves the fibers of your nails. By flushing your body with gelatin and fresh juice, some experts believe you can achieve an overall healthy glow to your body.

Gelatin is actually a great food for your glands. In fact, it is a prime source of almost all the essential amino acids or metabolized protein you need to fuel your endocrine system. Ground whole fruits and vegetables, which include peel, seed and core liquefied in a juicer and balanced with green leafy vegetable juices, will provide all the food elements that are necessary for a normally functioning metabolism. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices are also very low in calories, so juice fasting is a great way to safely lose a few of those unwanted and unneeded pounds. If you do not have access to a juicer, only organic fruits, vegetables and juices should be consumed. Juice fasting flushes your system, allows your digestive organs to have a much needed rest, and reduces the fermentation process in your body by not supplying large amounts of sugar or starches to your body.

Dissolve 1 tbsp of unflavored gelatin granules into 1/3 cup of hot water. Add ¼ tsp of kelp powder or liquid, and mix with 8 to 10 ounces of fresh vegetable juice. You can double this recipe if you wish to make more juice and store it in your refrigerator for 1 or 2 days. Carrot juice is exceptionally good for fasting. It has anticancer properties and lots of beta-carotene. Make sure to use the portion at the very top of the carrot. Celery, beets, avocados, squash, tomatoes, parsley, green beans and spinach are also wonderful juicing vegetables. Mix and invent your own combinations. Juice each vegetable individually, and then combine them in a glass to test different flavor combinations. Drink this super rich juice once in the morning, once at noon and once at night. Drink fresh juices and water without the gelatin during the day as often as you desire. Continue this for three to ten days. When you decide to break the fast, add whole fruits and vegetables back into your diet for a full day before easing back into a normal, healthy diet the following day.

Unflavored gelatin and kelp can be found at most any health food store, or can be ordered online at most online health stores. Juices are low in calories so you can expect to lose some weight during your fast.

Avoid heavy exercise throughout your fast. Some light yoga, walking or gardening are great means of stimulating your metabolism without straining your body.

Add gelatin to your normal diet even after you finish your fast. This will help stimulate your immune system.

Pregnant women and children should not fast. If you have diabetes, heart conditions, ulcerative colitis or epilepsy; if you are under 18 or under weight, if you are on medication, use extra caution when fasting. If you have any questions or concerns, contact a physician or other health-care professional before fasting.
