The New Look of Ponytails - Product Review

The ponytail has always been an old stand-by for school children, women and men with long hair. It has always been an easy way to control hair and to get it back and out of our faces. Recently the ponytail has been made acceptable in formal wear and business attire. No more the humble ponytail. However, the easiest and most common method of creating a ponytail has always been the use of an elastic band. Unless the band was covered by tying a strand of hair, a scarf or a ribbon around it the effect was that of the school girl rubber band.

DiManno Designs has created handcrafted ponytail holders that are an attractive and sophisticated alternative. The hair is still held firmly in place by a covered elastic band but the band is attached to a leather or fabric covering that is equipped with snaps at the ends. The covers come in two sizes – the standard size which is 2 inches wide by 5 inches long and a narrow cover that is 1 inch wide by 5 inches long.

To use the ponytail holder, you pull your hair into the desired ponytail, wrap the covered elastic band around to secure it and then bend the leather or fabric cover around the ponytail and snap the ends together. This forms a very attractive ponytail holder that appears loose but stays in place.

I tried out the standard size ponytail holder. It is black leather with an outside covering that has the feel of soft, fine leather. The elastic band is firmly stitched in place and the snaps are strong. I was pleased with the quality of the leather and the quality of the workmanship. The only problem that I found with the product was my choice of size. My hair is about collar bone length – too short for the standard size holder. The narrow cover would work well for my hair at this length. For now, I’m toying with the idea of growing my hair a bit longer. I need about three inches more length for the cover I have.

A look into the DiManno Designs website shows that they have ponytail holders in every color and design. No more humble rubber band, women with long hair can find holders to fit every wardrobe, whether casual or dressy.

DiManno Designs also offers wrist bands to match the ponytail holders. They are made of sturdy leather and are size adjustable. There are two sets of strong snaps to adjust to wrist size.

DiManno Designs Ponytail Holders and Wrist Bands can be found on the internet through their website.
