One of the reasons why Barrack Obama won the election was because he promised to change some things, like ending the war in Iraq and basically he wanted world peace by the way he had delivered his election speeches. What happened? He has said that he would end the war his first day in office. For the sake of accuracy, he is actually withdrawing troops from Iraq only to send them to Afghanistan. Why not be forthright? Why didn't he just say that he is continuing the war to other parts of the world? Could it be that Obama was just saying that he would end the war in Iraq so he could be elected? Could he be another lying politician who just opened his mouth to speak sweet nothings in our ears?
Was it not one of the main issues during the elections to end the war in Iraq? Most U.S. citizens were against the Iraq War because Bush ended up not being honest and the American people wanted someone who was trustworthy enough to end the madness in Iraq. Is Obama that man? Let's see, oh yeah we're still in Iraq and for how much longer? Sources say that he plans to withdraw most troops by August of 2010, but still leave 50,000 troops there.
I understand that there are terrorists still out there and we need to do something about it. I often wonder if a woman president would do better, no I am not talking about Hillary Clinton. What if I was president and well being a woman, I like to be protected. As a military wife and my husband being gone on deployments and such, I tend to be afraid at times when he is not here to protect me if there were any dangers lurking about. The point is our borders are wide open for any attack and most of our men and women serving in the Armed Forces are in 130 countries promoting and protecting our American Empire.
Of course, I might get a comment/complaint maybe through email, saying we've been safe ever since this Global War on Terror, oh, wait it's not called "War on Terror" anymore it's "Overseas Contingency Operation," according to the Obama administration, it is renamed so people are not reminded of the last administration's mistakes. Back to my argument of being safe ever since 9-11 happened, and I have to ask why our government failed to protect us before 9-11 occurred. Was there a NORAD stand down? Did the government have prior intelligence of maybe an attack occurring and failed to alert the American people?
Obama is bent on continuing his "Overseas Contingency Operation," for the sake of bringing peace to the world. Calling war by a different name or phrase is still war. When a group of elitists conjure up a new name to maybe soften our current situation is an insult to the American people. I have to say Obama makes a good salesman--he could say "war is peace," and people could get swept away by it, just like the catch phrase, "Change, we can believe in."
