Las Lenas Argentina

Las Lenas Argentina
Here in North America the summer heat is finally here. If it’s too hot for you, consider taking a ski vacation to Las Lenas Argentina. The snow is starting to fly down there, and this magnificent resort opens for their winter season June 27th.

There are 13 lifts at Las Lenas, 10 miles for free skiing, and a challenging terrain park. The elevation at the base of the ski area is 7,347 feet, allowing for close to 4,000 vertical feet of skiing. They have a snowbus service to transport skiers to off-piste skiing, and a special road for snowmobilers.

Las Lenas also has a kids program which accommodates youngsters with different lessons and activities depending on their age. For the baby program, participants can be as young as 45 days. The other programs are called; Mini (for one to three years), Kids (three to five), Olimpos (six to twelve), Olimpos Pro (10-14).

Currently the Argentine peso provides a great exchange to the United States dollar. A five day ski pass during the peak of their winter season, is only around $214 US dollars. Rather than lugging your skis through the airport, consider renting skis at the resort. A five day rental costs around $60 USD.

Restaurants abound at Las Lenas, from expensive to budget options, with everything in between. El Brasero has a self-service fare with the largest fireplace in the valley. El Paso Restaurante offers pizza, pasta and tex mex at the base of the ski area. Italian, Argentine, and international cuisine are also offered among the many gastronomic choices.

The different lodging options at Las Lenas range from a five star property such as the Piscis Hotel, to regular type hotel rooms, to apartments for rent or even dorm style housing. Be aware that most lodging options are priced in U.S. dollars.

Getting to Las Lenas from the Northern Hemisphere will be easiest by flying into Buenos Aires. Then you can fly directly from Jorge Newbery Airport to the Malargue Airport. The flight takes about one and half hours. It is a one hour bus ride from the airport to the Las Lenas Valley. If you are booking your lodging on the internet directly from the Las Lenas website, you can also add the flight from Buenos Aires and the bus shuttle. I do recommend comparing those flight prices with what a travel agent can offer.

This ski area is open until the beginning of October, so you have plenty of time to start planning your summer ski vacation in the winter of the southern hemisphere!
