Mercy Me

Prayers are needed for the band Mercy Me and the families of loved ones killed in a recent accident in which the group was involved in recently.

While traveling in their tour bus in Fort Wayne Indiana, Mercy Me crashed into a car that was attempting to make a left turn. The incident occurred after the band had finished a concert around 1:15 a.m. their bus was traveling through a green light when a car in an oncoming lane attempted a left turn right in front of the bus.

Sadly, Kara Klinker, the 18-year-old driver, was nine months pregnant and her unborn child was pronounced stillborn at a local hospital. She remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Two of the car's other passengers, Dario Boutte, 19, and Barbara Schmucker, 17, died of blunt-force trauma, according to a report by the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel.

"Mercy Me would like to express their incredible heartache over this horrible accident," Velvet Rousseau Kelm, the band's publicist, said in a recent statement "They are praying for the families of all who this will affect, and are asking others to please pray as well.

No one on the tour bus was injured. On the groups blog they asked for prayers for the families in the accident and stated their hearts are broken for the victims. They also express appreciation for the expression of love and support from all around the world.

Known for the hit single "I Can Only Imagine" the group has been at the top of the Christian charts since it's release in 1994.

They have also experience personal tragedy with the loss of several close people in a short amount of time in 1994. The song "Homesick" whose lyrics speak of a person being in a better place but longing to see a loved one again reflects that time period. It's a beautiful song with sweeping strings, acoustic guitar and of course the wonderful vocals of lead singer Bart Millard. I'm sure this group really feels this tragedy and I hope that the family involved in the accident can listen to this song and know that Mercy Me truly understands what they are going through.
