Foundations Your wardrobe changes with the seasons. Skin care and make up routines should change with the seasons also. Skin tones and skin type can change with the weather, so it is important to have the right product to keep your natural beauty shining through. As the weather gets cooler, your skin can become drier, leading to flakiness. You also start to lose some of the natural sun-kissed glow of summer. The foundation that was perfect for summer is most likely too dark for autumn and winter. It's time to look for a lighter hue, preferably with a sunscreen and moisturizer built in. When choosing foundation, don't rely on the appearance in the bottle. The color can change when applied to skin, and may look entirely different on another person. Test the shade on your skin, in natural light, if possible. Apply a little on your cheek close to your jawline, let it set a few minutes, then check the shade in the mirror. Don't be afraid to take a hand mirror to the front of the store and stand by the windows so you can take advantage of the light. Compare the shade to your neckline to make sure it will blend in. Foundation should match your skin tone as closely as possible. Foundation chosen for the cooler months should have a fuller coverage than the sheer types used in the warmer months. Choose a shade that evens your skin tone and offers a full, yet light coverage, to even skin tones. Most women will look best with shades with yellow undertones. If you are very pale, pink undertones will look better. Very few skins look natural with the mid-range orange hues, so be careful when selecting from those. While choosing shades, you should also give some thought to what kind of product you prefer and matches your lifestyle. Liquid foundations work for almost everyone. There are different coverages available, as well as the widest ranges in shades. Mousse foundations are wonderful for more mature skin, as they stay on top of the skin nicely and don't settle in the fine lines. Cream foundations are heavier and work as a concealer also, so they are great for those with blemishes and very uneven pigmentation. The newer cream foundations are designed to set on the face and not clog pores. Cream to powder foundation works well for oily skin and is quick and convenient. Tinted moisturizers are wonderful for those that wear minimal make up but want to even skin tone. Powder foundation is best for those that have very oily and shiny skin. Keep your summer sun kissed face into the autumn and winter months by using your foundation with a touch of bronzer dusted over the top. Use a light touch and just apply to the forehead, cheeks and nose, so it looks natural. If you want a tanned appearance, this is a much better option than choosing a darker foundation. Remember that your foundation is merely the canvas you are creating on your face for your color products. If foundation is chosen and applied correctly, no one will know you are wearing it. Your goal is not to look perfect, but to be natural, healthy, and beautiful! | Related Articles | Previous Features | Site Map
