If you are a regular reader of my articles, than it comes as no surprise that am a huge supporter of the sisterhood of women, and how crucial it is that we do whatever we can to maintain that support.

That is why I am doing this article about a women’s support forum neutral to any political positions.

The website AmyGripes.proboards.com is an amazing support forum run by women for women, and created by a woman named Amy, who along with volunteer staff members, runs the site completely free of profit.

Amy is a stay at home married mother of 5 whose busy family life and demanding schedule left little time for friends or adult conversation in general. She discovered that there are many forums online, but few devoted solely to women, and even more few devoted to the support of them.

I asked Amy herself, what made her want to start a support forum for women.

“I am supposed to help women. I am not therapist, I am not a doctor, I have no meaningful degrees, but what I do have is a will to change things in this world, and a strong belief that one person can change the world. I am determined to make things better for women and to provide the solid emotional support many of us lack and that many women cannot get elsewhere.

Years ago my grandfather told me that when you are bored with your life or unhappy with it, that it means something isn't right, and I was at the end of one stage of my life (having children), and at the beginning of another (middle age). I knew something in my life was not right and after creating Amy Gripes, and starting to lend support and time to other women in the same and different situations than myself I realized that this must have been what needed to change.

I am beyond proud to work beside my amazing volunteers who I could not have made this board a reality without, and so blessed to of realized what my calling in this world was. The only thing you have to do to join is be willing to share the good and the bad in life with an amazing group of women who will do the same with you. Give support; get support, women helping women.”

The board has many different topics of discussion, ranging from relationships, children, and holidays, to work, pets, loss, and of course, as the board name suggests, gripes. A place where everyone has different lives and different circumstances, but can come together as one, and vent to one another and receive the support and friendship they need back. In many cases, various solutions to issues are shared, from women all over the world, with different backgrounds and belief systems.

The only requirements in joining, is that you are a woman age eighteen or older and that content stays at a rating of PG-13 or lower.

There are many games you can play on the site, and the moderators run contests and games. They have monthly pick four winners with board prizes, and recently had a holiday avatar contest. They plan to do a contest for Valentines Day as well. You are also able to log into various social platforms, without ever leaving the site. That may be the best feature, besides the camaraderie of course. Once you settle in, you will never want to leave.
