Every country has probably TV series – soap operas – that gather whole families in front of TV. That was, for a long time, unknown phenomenon to Polish audience. There were some previous attempts and series, however, in 1997 a new kind of Polish movies – called TELENOWELA – became permanent part of Polish TV’s program.
Polish National TV channel announced contest for the first Polish ‘telenowela’. On 16th, 17th and 18th of June 1997 three TV series were shown to Polish viewers who voted for their favorite one. Whole Poland fell in love with Klan (‘Clan’) that was from September 1997 regularly played. The TV series, that took the second place, was also shown on TV regularly.
Below you will find names of the most popular TV series. However, each year the number of TV series watched by the Poles increases.
