Does the last name sound familiar? It should, this is the debut CD from Shooter Jennings, the son of Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter. Just like his daddy, he doesn't do the expected with his music.
Outlaw country has a new face and a sound we haven't heard in a while. Putting his own unique spin on his music, a blend of the country he grew up on and the rock and roll he discovered when he was a teenager, makes for a unique debut CD. Shooter, whose real name is Waylon Albright Jennings, spent the first few years of his life living in a tour bus traveling around the country touring with his parents and thought that this was the way everyone lived. After leaving Nashville for Los Angeles and putting together a rock band and playing with them until 2003, he discovered that he wasn't really putting out the music he really wanted to. So after a short break in New York, he has gone back to Los Angeles and recorded a CD that is sure to make people sit up and listen, not to mention take notice of this newest outlaw.
Put the O Back in Country is all Shooter Jennings, straight forward and in your face. You are either going to love him or you'll hate him. Country with a southern rock flair. No matter which group you fall in, you will remember him. The video for 4th of July is getting airplay on the country music stations, check it out and see what you think and watch for him to play his father in the Johnny Cash biography, Walk the Line, coming out this year.
