Canes with Style
Guest Author - Jessica Steinmetz

Are you tired of the plain aluminum canes? Is wood simply not your style? Well, now you and other cane users have more of a selection. There is no need to be stuck with canes that look the same. Your personality may sparkle through with every step you take.

Heather Medical – http://heathermedical.com makes it their business to give ordinary assistive devices some flare and style. The business is located in Michigan, but products can be shipped throughout other areas. They paint and decorate equipment to match what you want. You can choose from various themes (seasons for example), holidays, sports, flowers and so on. Heather Medical also uses different fabric including velvet and suede. They do not only do canes, but they decorate walkers, organizer bags, and other equipment. The prices range from $50 - $250. Heather Medical continues to grow in their wide selection.

If you are getting married, you might be apprehensive about your equipment catching people’s eye instead of you. Worry no longer. Heather Medical has a complete bridal collection that can match dresses for brides and bridesmaids. If you have another formal event, they will design items to fit that occasion. No more sticking out with metal. Now we can fit in with little difficulty.

The Chair and founder of Heather Medical, Diane Shilling, came up with this business idea due to a personal life changing experience. When a gas main exploded, it left her with some mobility impairments. Due to the 1992 accident, Shilling had to leave her nursing career, but decided to create Heather Medical. During rehabilitation, she was tired of the standard medical equipment and decided to implement her creativity by decorating the equipment. She received so many compliments on her canes that she started her own business. She wanted people to see the person instead of just the disability. And no doubt, that these products make people with disabilities feel better about their selves and makes them more approachable.

So, if you are ready to give your equipment a little lift, check out Heather Medical.
