Wild Turkeys Attack in North Dakota

Wild Turkeys Attack in North Dakota
Wild Turkeys have fed humans for thousands of years. In North Dakota, the wild turkeys have their revenge by terrorizing three small towns.

The small towns of Rocklake, Minot and Wahpeton are located in northern North Dakota. In Rocklake, owners of a farm left the area and left behind their flock of turkeys. The flock, and other flocks in the area, fend for themselves during the summer. During the harsh North Dakota winters, however, they move in to the town center where things are warmer and they have a chance for a handout.

When some bird lovers begin supplying them with feed, they assume that all humans are fair game for providing food. And when an innocent passer-by tries to walk along a path or even get out of their car, they are accosted by hordes of hungry turkeys.

The local fish and game representatives are trying to trap these wayward birds and relocate them further in the wild, where they can live in peace and not harass the townsfolk.

An Update: Guy Mitchell, a resident of the area, responded to an email I sent in asking after the troublesome turkeys. He said, "Lisa I'm sad to announce Big Tom met his waterloo! I'm thinking there are seven or so lonely widows
roaming the streets. If you have further questions please feel free to ask!" So perhaps the remaining females will be less aggressive and find themselves a new flock leader in the wilderness ...
