July 10 2013 Quilting Newsletter

Hello there, another newsletter coming your way from Bellaonline Ė The Voice of Women. Itís been a busy week of attending craft groups and lots of sewing Ė so Iím feeling pretty happy! On Tuesday I attended our Queensland Quilters monthly gathering Ė it was great to catch up with girls I havenít seen in a while and good to see the group is in good hands with their committee.

A guild or group is only as good as each individual member and its committee. I always think that belonging to a group is a two way exercise and there are expectations on both sides that need to be respected. Hmmmm that sounds like another article I could writeÖÖ

Anyway, yesterday I attended the Mountain Quilters Friendship day and it was a fabulous day of wonderful fun, meeting new and old friends and the most delicious spread of food. These mountain girls are great cooks, I can attest to that! Some great show and tell too.

Unfortunately my cameraís battery conked out just after I took the first picture so Iíll have to get some photos from my friend and post them on the blog asap. (Note to self: always carry a spare battery!).

Last week I posted my article titled 20 Timely Tips for Quilters. These were 20 random tips I use to complete my quilting creations. I hope you find something here that helps you. Hereís the link to that article:

The forum has been busy with chat Ė lovely to catch up with you girls. Iím posting a forum question where you can post your three most helpful tips for quilters. Hereís the link and Iím looking forward to hearing from you:

Iíve had time to surf during the week and came across the following little vignettes for you to browse through. Have fun! a pretty little pincushion some practical advice on auditioning quilting patterns before you start machining. the not so humble pencil at its best a very good instructional tutorial on mitered corners. Apple Blossoms free quilt pattern a dress up nurseís uniform for your budding Florence Nightingale Iím hearing this Zentangle work Ė this might help to explain? a great idea for keeping track of your rows as you piece

I must away and get friendly with my vacuum cleaner Ė my sewing room looks like a small explosion happened during the night. How is it that you donít see the mess in the night, but come the cold hard light of day ÖÖ

Anyway, stay well and busy for the next week, when Iíll pop in again for a quick chat.
Cheerio for now
