On my last lightweight camping trip, I refused to carry along the usual Tevas as a camp shoe - they simply weigh too much when you only want to carry 25 pounds on your back. However, a camp shoe is necessary, since the last thing anyone wants to do is put on your smelly, stinky, heavy hiking shoes when you roll into camp. I usually change into my camp sandals before I set up my tarp!
