Cranesville Swamp  Western Maryland's Garrett County is a green getaway with 20% of its landbase designated public lands -- from parks to forests to wildlife management areas -- and Cranesville Swamp is just one destination in the area worth a trek. Devil's Den State Park, Arkansas  Snugly tucked in the Ozarks, there are bats and caves and remnants of FDR's 1930's-era make work project. Grand Canyon Hiking : staying hydrated  Everybody should do the Grand Canyon, at least once in their lives, but the steep terrain and arid conditions are not for the unprepared. Little Wildhorse Canyon  A scenic slot canyon and loop hike in Utah. New Mexico’s Petroglyph National Monument  Short hikes to spectacular views and the cultural wonders of a Puebloan rock art legacy within walking distance of Albuquerque's western suburbs. Remembering Manassas  A hike back in time to the start of the Civil War in Virginia. South Mule Canyon  Southern Utah's Cedar Mesa is a treasure trove of less-visited canyons to explore. South Mule Canyon is an excellent starting point.
