Fiction-Historical
Fiction set in historical periods are always good reading!
Angels Watching Over Me Book about the aftermath of the Civil War as seen through the eyes of young teenagers. Arms of Deliverance Goyer is an outstanding Historical novelist because of her quality research into the time periods she writes about. This book is based in World War II and shares the story of one horrific practice of the Nazis and one baby´s escape from that situation. Emma's Gift Our grandparents, and perhaps our parents, remember the Great Depression of the 1930s. Emma’s Gift is the story of families living in rural America during this time period. Fancy Pants The year is 1890. Arranged marriages are a common occurrence. Lady Sydney Hathwell resides in England. She has just arrived in the United States to meet the man that her now deceased father expected her to marry. The story opens with Rexall Hume and Lady Hathwell in Hume’s office. For the Love of the Land Book two in The Queensland Chronicles documents life in the 1870s in Australia. It is the story of faith overcoming all difficulties. Glimpses of Paradise During the 1920s, Hollywood was the same scene of ruthless competition, criminal activity, and general debauchery we associate with it today. In the midst of it all, God is working through an evangelist known even today. Heart of Thornton Creek Boston to Australia? Can you imagine making a move like that in the 1800s? Rebecca Williams is faced with just such a prospect when her beloved father suddenly dies. John's Story - The Last Eyewitness Part of The Jesus Chronicles. The last days of the apostle John, the one Jesus called Beloved, and the only surviving eyewitness. A gripping story of bitter persecution, mentoring new followers, combatting heresy, and the urgency to chronicle his stories of the Jesus he knew and loved. Letter Perfect & A Dime A Dozen Letter Perfect shares the story of a woman sent to live with her father. Unfortunately, she learns he died before she arrived. A Dime A Dozen is the story of a small community where Apple farming was one of the major industries. More Books from Bethany House Historical fiction combined with a Christian message is my favorite type of book. Here are some you´re sure to enjoy. No Dark Valley and A Light to My Path The wild lifestyle of people from the 1960s on included many young people totally rejecting the faith of their parents and grandparents. Even slaves managed to maintain their faith. These books reflect typical behavior for these historical periods. One Night With the King The story of Esther from the Bible, fictionalized on DVD. An epic film of the almost total genocide of the Jewish race and an exciting love story. Stars Peter O'Toole, Tiffany Dupont, Luke Goss, and Omar Sharif. Romances from the South Stories weaved around the families that owned southern plantations are always eagerly read. It seems that we associate unusual romances with this setting. Ruby Ruby is the story of a young womnen who moves to the Dakota Territory during the late 1800s. Who is this Jesus? It is 30 A.D. Marcus Valerius a news reporter and commentator for The Jerusalem Gazette, is at his life’s end because he won’t kneel to the Roman Gods’ statues. World War II Historical Fiction Tricia Goyer brings a feeling of realism to her fictional characters. Her writing style let you feel as though you are living the events too. Frankly, it is difficult to read some parts of the books.
