Community Service Ideas  Community service can a be a large part of your troopīs Girl Scout program. Although the possibilities are endless, I thought Iīd share a few of my favorite with all of you. Cookie Booths  Cookie booths are the fast and safe way to sell cookies in a time when many parents no longer feel comfortable sending their kids door to door. Did you know that Girl Scouts have a fall product sale? Geocaching and Scouting  I have discovered geocaching, as have my kids, and we are all addicted. Geocaching is a natural fit with Girl Scouting, combining high-tech "compass skills" with hiking. Recently, I have been frustrated by a number of errors beyond my control that were impinging on my girlsī happiness. First of all, my criteria for success in Girl Scouts is to ask a simple question of the girls in attendance. That question is "did you have fun?" Normally, we use the school cafeteria, but this year another group is using that facility. World Centers--Our Cabaņa  The third World Center to open its doors was Our Cabaņa in 1957. Our Cabaņa is located in the suburbs of Cuernavaca, Mexico. With housing for 84, it is the largest of the four world centers and is located about an hour south of Mexico City. World Centers--Our Chalet  Girl Scouts is not just about selling cookies and doing activities in the local community; for older girls, itīs about wider opportunities in the world. One way that Girl Scouts can explore the world is to travel to different countries. To make that dream a reality, the World Association of Gir World Centers--Pax Lodge  The second World Center to open its doors was the London house named Our Ark House in 1939. Renamed Olave House in 1963, the London facilities were rebuilt and reopened in 1990 as Pax Lodge. World Centers--Sangham  The last World Center to open its doors is the Asian center called Sangham opened in India in 1966. Sangham is located on the banks of the Mula River, about three miles from the center of Pune and 120 miles south east of Mumbai (Bombay), which is on the western coast of India.
