I´m on my second go-around as a Girl Scout. As a girl, I lived in the Minn-Ia-Kota Council and went through the Brownie-Senior cycle. I even had my own Brownie troop when I was in high school. Now, I live in the Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, and I´m leading my daughters´ and Junior troop (with a whole lot of help from the other great parents in the troop!). I have just handed over the reins of my younger daughter´s Brownie troop and have mixed emotions and much anxiety over that decision. I have also served on my neighborhood service team as school organizer and adult recognitions coordinator.

I tell all the parents of young Girl Scouts or those who might be interested in Girl Scouts that it is quite simply the best organization for girls, by girls, and about girls.
