2008 National Convention  The 51st National GSUSA convention is being held in Indianapolis this year October 30th to November 2nd. As one Girl Scout leader put it, "this could be a major convention in terms of impact on the organization." Celebrating Juliette Low's Birthday  The birthday of the founder of Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Low, falls on the popular American holiday of Halloween. College Scholarships and Girl Scouts  My older daughter´s troop is entering sixth grade and going to middle school. Troop Crest History  Like so much of US Girl Scout history, the story of troop crests begins in Great Britain. When Juliette Low brought the idea of Girl Scouting to Savannah, she brought along the tradition of patrol crests. Each patrol chose the name of a flower, tree, shrug, or bird as its symbol. World Centers--Pax Lodge  The second World Center to open its doors was the London house named Our Ark House in 1939.
