Science Fiction Movies of the 21st century
2012 (2009) 2012 is here, and this is the disaster movie to end them all, as Roland Emmerich orchestrates the end of the world. 28 Days Later (2002) It's Day of the Triffids revisited - again! Battle Los Angeles (2011) So lame it ought to get a special award, Battle Los Angeles is packed with sci fi and war movie cliches. Chronicles of Riddick It's Conan the Barbarian meets Dune, but Vin Diesel and a strong cast pull it off in style. Comparison between the Sinking of Japan and 2012 Comaparing two disaster movies - The Sinking of Japan and 2012 - finds there really is no comparison at all. Cowboys and Aliens (2011) Two great stars, one great concept - but where's the story? District 9 (2009) A very different look at how humans might react to aliens in their midst. Gamer Gerard Butler doesn't get to sing, but that is the only surprise in this mind numbingly stupid, derivative movie. I Robot Review of the movie I Robot, starring Will Smith as cop in the future hunting down rogue robots. Paul (2011) I was really looking forward to this movie, but too many cliches spoiled the plot. Push (2009) Paul McGuigan's beautifully textured movie Push didn't deserve the drubbing it was given by critics and SF fans.
Resident Evil Afterlife (2010) A new trilogy begins with fourth instalment of Resident Evil but will the franchise make it to number six? Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) Don't think of this as a movie in the Planet of the Apes franchise - think of it as a movie featuring the awesome screen artistry of Andy Serkis. Star Trek 2009 It´s back to the future with the crew of the Enterprise in this stunning `reboot´ of the original Star Trek series. A review of Star Trek 2009, the movie that could spawn a whole new five year mission. Bring it on! Stepford Wives (2004) One of those remakes that make you wonder 'why bother?' Terminator Salvation (2009) I really tried to review this movie sensibly, but my head exploded trying to figure it out. The Day After Tomorrow (2004) Checks all the boxes on disaster movie tropes, and then some. The First Resident Evil Trilogy (2002-2007) A retrospective on the first three movies of the Resident Evil movie franchise. X Men First Class (2011) After all the hype, X Men First Class just fails on almost every level. SF/Fantasy Movies Homepage | Editor's Picks Articles | Top Ten Articles | SF/Fantasy Movies Site Map
