Self Reflection

Self Reflection
Ask yourself when people look at you what do they see? Do they see a well put together individual or do you look shabby like you don’t care about your outward appearance. If we take a quick glance at you, do you look like the walls are caving in? Do you look like all hope is gone? Or do you look like God’s child a light in a dark world?

I am sure you have all read the book of Ezekiel the story about the dry bones.

Ezekiel 37:1-4 The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live? I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord"!

Ask yourself again what do people see when they look at you? Can they tell that you have faith in God? Can they tell that you believe that Jesus died for your sins? Can they tell that you believe you have been forgiven? Can they tell that you are rooted and grounded in God’s word?

If I previously visited your church, would I have seen you clapping your hands, shouting Hallelujah, singing joyously and praising the name of the Lord? If I met you out and about now on your daily errands or on your job, would I notice your calm, your quiet strength, your loving nature?

Are you the same person outside of church that you are in church on Sunday mornings? Are you drawing people in or are you repelling people from following into the church doors?

I know that is a lot of questions, but as Christians we have to look at ourselves in a spiritual mirror and be true to ourselves about what we see.
Are you like the dry bones or has God breathed new life in you? If you believe with your whole heart, mind and soul that you are born again then as the song says “there ought to be some signs”.

"Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace shall be yours." (Phil. 4:6, 7)

To do God’s will and receive his grace, we cannot be dry bones. Take a look in the spiritual mirror what do you see?

God Bless!
