The Best Things in Life Are Free
Singing Happy Birthday, eating cake and ice cream, a walk on the beach, hot towels out of the dryer, sandcastles - Free! And yet we all enjoy them – especially kids. Smiles, hugs, and happy feet - free! Do I have your attention? Not yet!
Sleeping, kisses, laughs, and breathing. Take as much as you want. Sleeping in a soft bed, family, friends, and bed time stories! Don’t cost a thing. Good memories, standing up for something good, and bubble baths. Believe it or not still free! Is she smiling yet, are you smiling yet?
Kindness, caring, love or tickling are things that make you feel good and yet - don’t cost a thing. We do them daily and don’t think about it. Now stop! Wait for it- wait for it! How do you feel? You should feel different now. Look at your daughter – she should feel differently now. Embrace and enjoy because life should feel different now.
Talk about some or all of the things mentioned with her and watch the bonding begin. Watch how good falling in love with your family feels. Watch how good your daughter feels. I am sure by now you realize just how you’ve been taking life for granted. I’m also sure by now that – you look at life a little different now. It may even feel different now. I could go on all day but I think you get the point!
Help your daughter feel good about life! Encourage her to make every moment count. Find the positive in every day. Live in the now! And take a pocket full of free with you every day. A reminder that the best things in life are free - even the moment! See if you can come up with a few free things!
A good view, time, watching the sun rise, making a difference, looking into the eyes of your beloved, honesty, growing, compassion, support, shooting stars, belief, wisdom etc….
