US Sweepstakes Conventions

US Sweepstakes Conventions
Sweepstaking can be a lonely pursuit if your family and friends don't join you in your hobby. Besides local sweepstakes clubs, there are conventions where you can gather with contests enthusiasts for fun and chances to win prizes. While these are held in different parts of the world, this article focuses on the US conventions. Below are four popular events.

Empire: This convention is held in New York and is the brainchild of Canadian marketer, Carolyn Wilman, aka the Contest Queen, and author of "You Can't Win if You Don't Enter." She brings her extensive experience in business marketing and as a contest entrant to all her sweepstakes endeavors. This is an overnight convention. Visit the Empire site for more info (https://empiresweepstakesconvention.com/).

Maryland Spring Banquet: The registration spots for this one seem to sell out quick. In 2014, tickets sold out in just over 7 hours! This convention is held in Gaithersburg, Maryland, with vendors, a banquet and raffles. This is an overnight event. Learn more at the banquet website (https://www.mdspringbanquet.com/).

National: As of 2014, the National Sweepstakes Convention is in its 25th year. It's held for 5 days in Orlando, Florida. Like the others, there will be vendors and prizes but also more opportunities to mingle. The resort even has a shuttle service to many popular area theme parks from the hotel, so you could make a family vacation out of attending this convention. Learn more at spf25orlando.com.

NH Sweepstakes Getaway: This two-day convention is held at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire. This is an interactive event where participants are encouraged to bring their laptops or handheld devices to learn and share sweeping tips. Meals, movies and prizes are on the schedule. Learn more at the getaway website (https://www.nhsweepstakesgetaway.com/).

It's certainly possible there's an event closer to home. Check your local area online for sweepstakes clubs. Members may know of conventions near you or may even be part of the volunteer staff that runs one. A convention would be a fun, relaxing getaway and opportunity to make new friends who've been bitten by the sweeping bug. Have fun and good luck!
