Come Pray the Rosary - Website Review

Come Pray the Rosary - Website Review
Have you ever wanted to find more time to pray? More time to say the Rosary? Are you new to the Rosary? Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn how to pray the Rosary, but haven’t yet.

Come Pray the Rosary is an awesome interactive online Rosary website that makes praying the Rosary easy and convenient for everyone, whether you devoutly pray the Rosary daily or you are just getting started.

Meditative music plays in the background. From the home page you can either click on Enter to proceed to your rosary choices or About Us to learn more about the site. At the bottom of the page is a counter showing how many people worldwide are currently on the site praying the Rosary along with you. This counter updates automatically as visitors come and go. Navigating around the site is simple and straightforward.

Let’s look at the choices you have once you click Enter.

The first screen you’re taken to gives you the option to choose either English or Spanish for the subtitle text. The audio portion is recited in English only.

The next screen gives you the following options:

Prayer Mode

  • Worldwide - if you choose worldwide, you will join other site visitors in praying a perpetual rosary that may begin at any point within the five Rosary decades.
  • Individual - if you choose individual, you will start at the beginning of the first decade and have the option of pausing playback anytime during the prayer. Also, with this mode, you can choose which mysteries you wish to pray. Options are Suggested (chooses the Mysteries recommended by the Catholic Church based on the daily schedule), Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, or Luminous.

Bandwidth

  • High - for DSL or Cable internet
  • Low - for Dial-Up internet

Visual Setting

  • Holy Land - plays video of images from Jordan and Israel as you pray and meditate on the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary.
  • Church - plays video from St. Paschal Baylon Church in Thousand Oaks, CA, with Fr. Dave Heney reciting the Rosary with parishioners.

Once you make your selections and click OK, you are taken into the actual Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. More options are found here.

The menu bar at the bottom give you the following choices:

  • Exit
  • Intentions - Clicking on this opens a small window where you can read prayer intentions of fellow visitors, as well as add your own intentions.
  • Pause/Play button - (Individual Prayer Mode only) Pause anytime during the playback.
  • Text - If checked, the text box is visible. Un-checking this box takes the text box away.
  • Sound - Control the volume of the audio.
  • Background - Clicking the arrows changes the background skin. The default is a hilly desert with a blue sky. Some other choices include a snowy mountain range, blue ocean waters, trees in the midst of fall foliage, bright blue and white clouds, spring flowers, and inside a beautiful church.

If your Rosary isn’t handy or if you don’t have one, don’t worry! To the right of the video window is an onscreen Rosary. As the mysteries are prayed the cross and Rosary beads turn from black to green.

Reciting the Rosary on this website is convenient and only takes about 20 minutes to pray one set of mysteries. If you have more time I would recommend a Rosary CD with meditations, but this is a quick and easy way to incorporate praying the Rosary into your daily schedule.
