The first time I heard the phrase Praise in the Park was at another outdoor concert sponsored by my friend the late Joe Pope who would hold the event every year in Griffin, GA.

It was a surprise to both Joe and I when we heard that the outdoor concert sponsored by Praise 102.5 would bear the same name. The year was 2007 and it took place at Stone Mountain Park.

The event moved to Clayton County International Park in Jonesboro, also know as Atlanta Beach. The event once again featured performance from many artists including; Smokie Norful, James Fortune, and Sister Perri Reid(formerly known as Pebbles). this is the second year that the concert will take place at Centennial Park. More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the concert.

In an article about the event from the Clayton News Daily, Derek Harper, program director of Praise 102.5 FM, said the concert series attracts fans from around the country.

"We feel like it is our job as 'Atlanta's inspiration station' to provide some inspiration," he added. Log on to the station's website to find out more about the event www.mypraiseatl.com/events
