In the fourth installment of Liz Schulte's Easy Bake Coven Series, Tiddly Jinx, Selene Warren finds she must fix some of the damage she did in the underworld. (Apparently, her disastrous adventures in the underworld are explained in previous novels.) Black magic must be used. Since Selene is pregnant, Cheney and her friends won't let her perform the black magic, since it may corrupt her (or kill her) and the newborn baby. It is decided that a necromancer (also from a previous novel) be brought in and trained in black magic spells by Selene's Grandmother. Selene and the necromancer, named Frost, are constantly bickering. To make matters worse, Selene is being pursued by a Vampire, Corbin, who wants to take Selene from Cheney.
This is, unfortunately, a very dangerous mission, and since the creatures of Fae dislike Selene and don't trust her, she and Cheney become willing to step down as rulers. Because of Selene's past adventures, everyone in Fae is in danger, especially those she loves.
Although I was familiar with the main characters and the fantasy world of Fae, I found that by not having read installments two and three, I was clueless as to what was going on; the book made reference to several happenings that were not explained, such as the death of Cheney's father, the King, and Selene's adventures in the underworld and the damage she had caused. This is definitely a series where the books must be read in order and where events from the previous novels are key to understanding the next. For those who enjoy the series, it is a good idea to read the first three before starting Tiddly Jinx. This fantasy series about elves, witches, vampires, etc., is on the lighter side, and for those who like fantasy thrillers, will certainly be an enjoyable, fast read.
