We will continue to work on the SVG cut file for the berry basket project. If you haven't already, open the .ai file into Illustrator^R.

To create the side openings, we will slant the edges of the side.

1. With the Direct Selection tool, select the top right anchor point and move it downward .5 inch. Repeat this for the bottom right anchor point.
   
   Our last step is to straighten the side's top edge. We want this to have a square angle to match the square tab.
   
   
2. Add an anchor point .5 inch from the left edge and drag it downward until you have a 90 degrees corner.
   
   That completes one side of the basket. Let's add a matching side.
   
   
3. Select the entire side piece with the Selection tool and click Edit - Copy and Edit - Paste. With this new side piece selected, click Object - Transform - Reflect and set to a Vertical flip. Reflect again but this time set to Horizontal. Drag the second side piece to the right edge of the basket base.
   
   To create the longer sides, repeat the previous steps and start with a 6.5 wide and 2.5 high rectangle. Once you have all four sides in place against the sides of the basket base, we can lock this layer in the Layers pane.
   
   
4. Add a new layer. Using the previous layer as a pattern, draw a clean cut line path matching the outline of the pattern.
   
   

You can delete the pattern layer and save the file as a SVG cut file.
