In the novel Her Final Breath, the second installment in the Tracy Crosswhite series by bestselling author, Robert Dugoni, Tracy is back in Seattle working the homicides of several strip-club dancers who have been hog-tied and while struggling to get loose, killed themselves. At the same time, she is being stalked, but doesn’t fully realize it. Her boss has it out for her and makes her head of a task force devoted to finding the killer, knowing that she will fail; he wants her to look like a fool. Tracy discovers several facts about the cases she’s working that are related to an old case that her boss originally investigated, and has found that he and his partner went against protocol in handling the case

Dugoni has done an excellent job of making his characters seem real, as well as building suspense throughout the entire novel. Readers will be able to relate to the internal politics of the police department, especially the fact that some of the men’s egos are threatened by a woman whose skills are better than some of the men.

The Tracy Crosswhite series is a good one, and this novel will keep readers on the edge of their seats. This novel is fast-moving and well-written. There is no graphic sex, violence, or profanity, so it’s a good one for most readers. Tracy is a likeable hero, and readers will want to follow her as Dugoni completes more books in the series. Definitely recommended reading.
