Not only is The Official Chase 'N Yur Face Cookbook a delightful cookbook for young adults (and beginning cooks, and, well, everyone who enjoys cooking), it is a book that champions those who overcome challenges and soar. Chase Bailey was diagnosed with autism at a young age, and has food aversions, as well as slow speech, and other maladies. He has overcome many of them, starting his own cooking show on You Tube, as well as being invited to be a guest on dozens of mainstream television shows. He is absolutely adorable, and has worked hard to become an accomplished chef. Chase’s darling personality shows through in his recipes; they are innovative, trendy (most give instructions on making them gluten free), fun, and appealing.
The recipes are well-written and easy to follow. As a bonus, he has included a box with a “Fun Fact” at the end of each recipe, which makes the book informative, too. This is one author who has studied history and food, and in this delightful cookbook, he has made learning fun.
Some of the best dishes are: Barnyard Breakfast Muffins and Sunshine Muffins (Yum). Caveman Kabobs were delicious and easy, and he has included a fabulous recipe for gingerbread from his Grandma Karen. Trendy recipes include Jammin’ Jerk Roast, Tikka Masala Pizza, and Sloppy Chase with Lamb, to name a few. There are also pictures of almost every recipe, so cooks will have an idea how their finished product will look.
The Official Chase 'N Yur Face Cookbook is highly recommended for all cooks, from young beginners to the very accomplished. It is a fun read with recipes that are simple and good. It’s one of those books that is fun to give as a gift and one of those books that should be on every cookbook shelf.
