Teriyaki Burgers with Grilled Pineapple Recipe
As summer approaches and the weather warms up, most of us look forward to getting the grill ready to cook all our favorite grilled specialties. Memorial Day is the first holiday of summer, and it’s a great time to introduce the following Teriyaki and Grilled Pineapple Burgers as an alternative to regular grilled burgers. This recipe comes from Kari Coates, an excellent cook and busy business owner, who serves them often. They are a favorite with her family and friends.

If you have a little extra time, you can serve these burgers with Teriyaki Bacon Jam which is a great condiment that can not only be served on these burgers, but also on sandwiches, or alongside steaks, chicken, and fish. The teriyaki bacon jam keeps two weeks or more in the refrigerator if it lasts that long.

8 Servings

2 pounds ground beef, (not extra lean)
6 tablespoons sugar
6 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
2 eggs

1 pineapple, rind cut off and cut into 1/2' slices
1 tablespoon honey
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 dash cinnamon

8 hamburger buns

  1. Mix the ground beef, sugar, teriyaki sauce, and eggs well.
  2. Divide the mixture into eight 1/4 pound patties.
  3. Place the pineapple slices into a zip-type bag.
  4. Mix the honey, melted butter, and dash cinnamon and pour over the pineapple.
  5. Knead the mixture so that it coats the pineapple slices.
  6. Place the hamburger patties on the grill and grill on both sides until cooked through.
  7. Meanwhile place the pineapple slices on the other side of the grill and grill, turning once, until there are grid marks on each side.
  8. Serve the pineapple slices on top of the burgers.
