Relieving Stress While Blending In The Kitchen

Relieving Stress While Blending In The Kitchen
Blending in the kitchen. What thought does this statement conjure up in your mind? A lot of you would know that blending in the kitchen can often refer to making beauty products. That's what we'll talk about today anyway...blending beauty products in the kitchen.

As if you didn't live in a certain amount of stress before the global crisis, you're certainly working through your fair share now. Your kitchen has become your lab, so to speak. Your haven for working through idle time, that often becomes some really interesting creations.

Businesses are being born and some of you don't even realize it yet. Blending in the kitchen is a way of easing your stress level and helping you get through the day in a relaxed state.

What Treasures Await You in Your Kitchen?

Because it's your kitchen, you've probably got some very interesting ingredients in your pantry. Especially when it comes to oils. Did you know that oils make excellent bases when it comes to beauty products.

If you're into the natural space of blending, you'll understand what solar infusion is. If not, it's when you take oils like sunflower, apricot or jojoba and create infusions solely from the heat and light of the sun. When you think of it, it can be a funny scene. You'll find yourself chasing the position of the sun trying to get all of its light and energy for your infusions.

Some of the blends you can create are infused oils with lemon balm, basil, rosemary, lavender and Calendula. These are all herbs that you can grow in your garden. Don't have a garden? Create one!

It doesn't have to be big, it can be a few pots. If you're fortunate enough to have a window in your kitchen, all the better. No window in the kitchen? You'd be surprised at how many homes are being built or apartment buildings being reconfigured with kitchens in the middle of the room and windows are at the opposite end of said room.

Never the less, if you've got light, you can have a small herb garden.

Will Essential Oils Help Me Through My Blending in the Kitchen Rants?

One of the most satisfying activities you can have in your kitchen is to be working with essential oils. Essential oils have been known to help calm irritated and inflamed skin as well as bring calm to your nerves when frazzled on a given day.

Certain essential oils are staples in my kitchen. Frankincense, lavender, tea tree, sweet orange, lemon, sandalwood and vetiver. Sandalwood and vetiver are on the pricey side, especially when you buy them uncut with jojoba oil. I keep a small bottle of each for personal blends. They have always been calming oils for me.

The other mentioned oils are like having a first-aid kit, oil style. Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, they can be used on cuts, scrapes and burns.

New to Blending in the Kitchen?

If you're new to blending in your kitchen, you'll want to start off with recipes like bath salts or sugar scrubs. Who can mess up a bath salt? I did! Some twenty years ago, my first batch had too much oil in the base and the scenting. I was new to essential oils and didn't realize that you only needed a few drops to get the desired scent you wanted. I also didn't realize that essential oils and fragrance oils are not the same.

Here's a Simple Recipe for a Sugar Scrub

1 cup sugar (organic pure cane, brown pure cane or turbinado. I mix all three into one batch in equal amounts)

3 tablespoons of jojoba, extra virgin olive or sweet almond oil

a few drops of vitamin E oil
a few drops, as in 1 or 2 of your favorite essential oil. (lavender, grapefruit, spearmint make good choices)

Instructions:

Place sugar in a small to medium size container and add the oil 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing in between. Keep your consistency sandy. If after your second tablespoon you see it's a little soupy, don't add a third. You can add more sugar to absorb the oil.

You'll want to use scrubs on moist skin. So after your shower or bath, in a circular motion apply the scrub all over your body. Rinse well to remove the scrub. You'll love the way your skin feels afterwards.

Not only have you found a way to relieve stress from working in your kitchen, you've created a product that you can use to enhance the beauty of your skin. Go figure!

That's it for this week.
