Almost everyone has a toaster oven, and it’s the only oven some students and those who live in a small room have access to. That’s why Toaster Oven Takeover: Easy and Delicious Recipes to Make in Your Toaster Oven by Roxanne Wyss and Kathy Moore is so timely and so appealing. This cookbook is filled with dozens of mouthwatering recipes that are mostly easy, so even if the toaster oven is the only one you have, you can have good meals anytime.

This cookbook covers the important facts about toaster ovens, as well as hints for being successful when using it. Most recipes include instructions for using a convection oven, too as a bonus. There are plenty of appetizers, snacks, side dishes, and main dishes to make the most stubborn resort to the toaster oven, although most of the recipes, with a little alteration, can be made in a regular oven. But the toaster oven is fun, so most will want to stick with it. Most of the casseroles are pasta, which is a favorite with everyone, and for those who enjoy plainer meat and potato dishes, there are also good instructions for making a juicy steak or a Tuscan Pork Tenderloin in the toaster oven. The book also includes luscious breads as well as appealing desserts. The recipes have nuances from all over the world: Spain, Middle East, Italy, Mexico, Asia, so there is something for everyone here.

The only disappointing thing about this cookbook is that the photos are not in color. This is the 21st century; color photographs have been around for decades, and there is no excuse for blah black and white photos that don’t show off the beauty of the dishes.

Highly recommended, albeit the lack of pictures, because this cookbook has recipes that will appeal to everyone.
