Immune boosters. What are they? Why do we need them for the body?

We hear a lot about the immune system. What is the immune system? According to betterhealth.vic.gov.au/, the immune system is a complex network of cells and proteins that defends the body against infection. The immune system keeps a record of every germ (microbe) it has ever defeated so it can recognize and destroy the microbe quickly if it enters the body again.

Knowing that your immune system keeps a record of every germ that is defeated in your body, it's a good idea to make sure you stay healthy. This way your immune system doesn't have to overtax itself.

Vitamin C and Your Immune System

Your immune system has the job of being able to fight off any infections that threaten your body. Most of you think of vitamin C when you hear and speak of boosting your immune system.

Citrus fruits are high in vitamin C and you immediately think of oranges, lemons, grapefruits, tangerines, And limes when you hear citrus.

Bell peppers and broccoli also produce vitamin C. Your body doesn't naturally produce vitamin C, therefore you look to supplements and food in order to provide you with the amount of the vitamin C that you need in order to keep a healthy immune system and keep it boosted into the state of health.

Garlic, spinach, Ginger, yogurt, green tea, turmeric and almonds are also high in vitamin C.

The key with immune boosters is that they help to fight infection as well as stop if not minimize inflammation. Inflammation is truly a sign that your body's calling out for help.
