How-to No Makeup Makeup Guide for Ethnic Beauties

How-to No Makeup Makeup Guide for Ethnic Beauties
No makeup, makeup. Nude skin is probably the most classic makeup look ever. When it comes to ethnic skin tones, you have always had a tough time finding nude matches in makeup selections.

Can Ethnic Beauties pull off the not so new look? Absolutely. The key is finding a shade that's going to blend well with ethnic skin, especially the darker hues. Historically the Beauty World has been more geared towards pale beige or pale pallets.

Offerings in today's Beauty World have become more prominent. Why is this? Because dark complexion women are calling for foundation shades that will enhance the natural beauty of their skin.

The thing about darker complexions when it comes to ethnic skin, is that a good cleanser, toner and moisturizer, will give your skin a Natural Glow once that regimen is complete. Nine out of ten times you don't need a foundation. Should you decide to wear makeup, you’ll want to make sure that it's non-greasy and that it is extremely light in texture.

Darker Complexions and the No Makeup, Makeup

Another thing that needs to be taken into consideration, is that darker complexions often reflect light. When this happens your highlighters must be used sparingly. You would go very light on the cheekbones, you would avoid highlighters on your nose, your forehead and above your lip. You’ll also want to stay as close to golden brown hues as possible.

One of the well-known makeup artists, Carola Gonzalez who works with Kerry Washington, suggests that you take a pea-sized amount of moisturizer and dab it on your cheeks. What this does is adds sheen without it being too shimmery.

Everyone's shimmer level is different so when you're looking for foundations and lipsticks you want to make sure that you test different shades. When you're purchasing, you definitely want to hold it up to your face and if you can, swipe a bit on your jawline.

It's a good idea to know what your undertone is as well. Whether you're olive, yellow or red undertone, you’ll want to make sure that you understand how to choose a foundation that’s right for you. One that enhances your complexion as opposed to making you look gray and ruddy.

The Key to No Makeup, Makeup

The no makeup, makeup trend in beauty, is to have on makeup, but not enough to look made up. How do you accomplish this? Your skin must be clean and healthy. It should look as if you could walk out the door as is.

It’s like an artist approaching a clean canvas and creating one of their greatest works. You’ll be wearing makeup and looking as if there is no makeup at the same time.

How many of you have rocked this makeup trend? Let us know your thoughts in the Ethnic Beauty forum.

That’s it for this week.
