For everyone who wants to eat healthier, or for those families with a member who must eat a special diet such as nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc., this is a cookbook to notice. Included are dozens of recipes – some unique, and some classics made healthier – for everyone. Some are recipes that are tried and true, i.e., the famous broccoli salad that most of us have been serving for decades. In this case, the authors have gone overboard – my family did not appreciate the reduced mayonnaise and lack of sugar. Some of the recipes have been healthified and are still good; some, not so good. The recipes are written in the traditional form, and are easy to follow. They are also mostly quick and easy to prepare with easy-to-find ingredients that are generally on most pantry shelves or already in the fridge and freezer. Many of the recipes will appeal to even picky eaters, so most cooks will want to prepare several recipes from this cookbook.; It is very helpful that each recipe is marked as to which special diet it conforms to.
Not only are these recipes healthified, they make good use of slow cookers and Instant Pots, as well as easy sheet pan dinners. This makes for big time savings. Especially on weeknights when time is at a premium. Many of the dishes are pictured, and the photographs are beautiful.
Since there are enough really good and appealing recipes to prepare, this cookbook is a winner.
