Those who follow the Drew Series by Emma Tallon will want to immediately pick up Her Fight, and will find that this fifth installment is absolutely unputdownable. Scarlet is bent on getting revenge on her cousin Ruby, who betrayed the entire Drew family and exposed Scarlet’s romance with a police detective who had to leave and is presently in hiding. While she is trying to find Ruby, she lets her guard down a bit and finds herself in trouble with an old rival.

Tallon has a real talent for weaving a suspenseful tale that keeps readers on the edge, and this book is no exception. The twists and turns make for building suspense, and readers will find they cannot put the book down. Tallon has developed her characters well, and those who have read the previous novels in the series will be familiar with them. While the Drews aren’t the biggest crime family in London, they are formidable just the same. In the previous novel, Connor and Cillian have just found out that Ray is their real father, so there is friction between them and Lily. There is also a mole working inside the family business; it seems that the Drews may just be overthrown and the family business will die.

All told, this is one of the best of the installments. It starts with suspense and the suspense lasts throughout. Although this can be read as a standalone novel, it is recommended that readers pick up the previous novels to feel the impact of the powerful characters with their history. This book is highly recommended.
