Everything you ever wanted to know about food preservation is included in the cookbook, Food Preservation for Preppers: How to Master Canning, Dehydrating & Freezing with 99 Simple Tips to Prep for the Future, by C.B. Revell. This is an excellent book with modern information, that will help save time and money, without wasting good food and making it possible to have favorite foods on hand for when it is needed.
The book covers the history of food preservation, and the progressive methods that have evolved through the years. There is information on growing, harvesting, choosing, and storing different foods, as well as different methods of preserving such as canning, freezing, and drying.
This is more of a textbook, and not a cookbook; it doesn’t include actual recipes, rather instructions on preserving different foods by different methods. While the instructions are well-written and easy-to-understand, this book isn’t one that will inspire anyone to curl up and read. It is one of those informational tomes and is not particularly fun or even that interesting unless looking to find specific information on a preserving question or method. There are photographs or illustrations, which would make it more interesting to read.
Books such as this are definitely necessary, and it is a good idea to have it on the cookbook shelf for reference when preserving any type of food.
