Chocoholics everywhere are always looking for a new dish that has enough chocolate to satisfy and delight. Believe it or not, one of the most delicious and chocolaty desserts is made in the Instant Pot, and it’s very easy to make. The following Instant Pot Chocolate Suicide is definitely a dessert you’ll want to try. This Chocolate Suicide can be served hot from the pan, where it has the texture of a pudding, or cooled thoroughly, where it has the texture of a very moist cake. It has enough chocolate to satisfy even the most picky of chocoholics.

While testing, I wanted to use up some leftover mini size candy bars, and I loved the crunchy bits. You can use an extra cup of chocolate chips if you prefer. Make sure you use good quality real chocolate chips, and make sure they are semi-sweet or bittersweet for the best chocolate flavor.

1 15.25 ounce devil's food cake mix
1 3 oz. package instant chocolate pudding mix
4 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
2 cups sour cream

1 cup crushed Nestle's Crunch or Hershey’s Krackel bars, for substitute Symphony bars, or your favorite candy bar
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Chocolate syrup
Sweetened whipped cream

  1. Pour 2 cups water into the pan of an 8-quart Instant Pot Place a trivet on the bottom. Place a silicone sling over the trivet (if a silicone sling isn't available, make one from aluminum foil) so the pan will be easy to remove from the pot after cooking. Spray an 8" springform pan (make sure it fits into the pot) with non-stick spray.
  2. the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and sour cream until smooth.
  3. Whizz the candy bars in the food processor and add them to the mixture along with the chocolate chips.
  4. Transfer to the prepared springform pan; smooth the top. Place the pan in the Instant Pot over the sling. Fold down the ends of the sling on the side of the pan. Cover the pot, set the valve to sealing, and set to manual for 35 minutes.
  5. When the cycle has finished, let the pressure come down naturally.
  6. Remove from the pot and serve with a drizzle of chocolate syrup and whipped cream.
