Keyshawn Hudson, known as Keysh, is a popular social media chef. His cookbook, Food Family Repeat: Recipes for Making Every Day a Celebration: A Cookbook, is awesome. The recipes included are definitely “soul food” and have heavy Jamaican nuances. Although cooking videos are nice to watch, it’s much better when the recipes are in a cookbook where cooks can not only peruse the recipes, but follow them at their own pace. This cookbook is well organized, and very well written.

Chef Keysh has inserted his delightful personality into this book, and makes it fun to read as well as cook from (He’s cute too!). His background is different from many of us, so it is interesting to see the differences that make the recipes unique and worth making and serving. The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first followed by step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow. Both beginning and advanced cooks will find they can successfully make mouthwatering dishes from this excellent book every time.

The cookbook includes beautiful, professional photographs of most of the dishes, which makes it difficult to decide what to make next. There are dozens of recipes that will end up on your “must make now” list. I found that I even searched out goat to make the famous Jamaican Goat Curry that fascinates me.

All told, this is an excellent cookbook with unique recipes that is fun to read. It makes a good addition to any cookbook collection.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
