There are thousands of Pasta cookbooks out there, and Mateo Lane’s, Your Pasta Sucks: A "Cookbook" is my hands-down favorite. While it doesn’t have hundreds of different Italian recipes, it does have plenty of doable recipes that are very appealing. It does contain most of the classics, however. What is really nice about this cookbook is that the recipes are actual real Italian family recipes that turn out delicious. Most of the recipes have been given to the author by family members like Gram Gram, Aunt Cheryl, or sister Kate. While reading, you get to know his family members as well as plenty of facts about Italian culture. Believe it or not, most readers won’t be able to put it down before reading it cover to cover.

The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients (most readily available at mainstream grocery stores) listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions. They are easily made by anyone, whether it be a beginning or advanced cook. The recipes are accompanied by beautiful, professional photographs of the mouthwatering dishes.

However, my favorite part is that it is really funny. It is a cookbook to read in a cozy corner and laugh until it’s time to prepare one of the dishes that strike your fancy from the book, since laughing that hard will make you very hungry. Whether you are a cook or not, you will want to own this excellent and funny book.
